Teaching Babies to Love the Water

I have a 16-month-old daughter. She loves the water and I’m looking forward to seeing her swimming properly. My question is, at what age can I expect her to get the hang of kicking and moving purposely in one direction?

It depends as every child will develop at a different rate. Usually children will develop their kick on their front and back and then move onto learning arm strokes.

A majority of kids would be 3 to 5 when learning kicking and 4 to 6 years to begin and develop arm strokes.

Developing a love of the water at 16 months is clearly the number one objective and it sounds like you are facilitating this really well.
