How to Kick When Swimming Butterfly

Gary Barclay explains how to kick when swimming butterfly.

Hi, I’m Gary Barclay. I’m going to talk to you a little bit about the butterfly kick.

The most common problem we find with the butterfly kick is where swimmers kick just from their knees, rather than using their hips and their torso to drive the kick.

So what we see a lot is swimmers kicking just from their knees, up and down from their knees, rather than using the whole body, to kick as you go down the pool.

So, it’s very important that if you’re swimming butterfly, that you kick from the hips, and you also use the muscles through your stomach and your torso as well.
